Kate Willcox Principal Clinical Psychologist
Kate works with adults and adolescents experiencing mental health issues such as depression and anxiety, trauma, grief, difficulty adjusting to life changes, and health issues. She also assists clients having trouble with relationships, emotions, work and life stress, parenting and sleep.
Kate has a warm and collaborative style. She ensures that she spends the time needed to understand each person's circumstances, and for them to feel comfortable with her and the work they are doing together.
Kate has enjoyed helping adolescents, adults and families for many years across public mental health and hospital settings, in addition to her many years in private practice. She has a particular interest in working with people undergoing or recovering from cancer treatment, recognising that the emotional recovery from such a significant experience brings unique challenges.
Kate also enjoys working with adolescents and young adults, providing support to navigate this often very challenging time of life. She helps people to find their way when they are not happy with how they feel, who they are, or how they relate to the people in their lives.
Kate works closely with each of her clients to gain a strong understanding of what has brought them to therapy, and together develop the best approach to meeting their goals. She believes in supporting everyone, whatever their age, to develop their strengths and attain positive mental health, wellbeing and happiness for the future.
In working with her clients, Kate uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy and other evidence-based approaches.
Kate consults from both our Fitzroy North and Kew clinics.
